The library
Just off the lobby, this paneled reading room offers two thousand books, a card table, chess set, and an honesty bar for sherry and tea. It is available to guests around the clock.
Experiences
Learn the building's history over an afternoon, swim below painted stars, relax amid black-marble spa surroundings or dance beneath the chandeliers.
Slow days
Created for guests staying weeks instead of mere nights, Guest Nivo continues to offer much more than a restaurant and a bed. Discover a ballroom with sprung flooring, the former bathhouse now home to spa and pool, a leather-armchair library, and a rooftop terrace for sunset viewing.
Your stay includes most of the experiences below. The concierge can arrange treatments, private lessons and ballroom evenings, or create an itinerary for guests who would rather have their days mapped out.
The Grand Ballroom
Occupying the entire second floor, the Grand Ballroom features a sprung oak floor, balcony gallery along three sides and eleven crystal chandeliers, lowered and polished every spring. From 9:30 pm until midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the Starlight Orchestra performs swing, foxtrot and ballroom standards.
New to the foxtrot? Before the orchestra starts, take the free 8:30 pm group lesson covering several easy steps. Sunday afternoons bring a tea dance to the ballroom for guests of every age, with cakes and sandwiches served on the balcony.

Music has long belonged to this house. On weekday afternoons, the orchestra rehearses in the ballroom, and guests may listen from its balcony.

Around the house
Just off the lobby, this paneled reading room offers two thousand books, a card table, chess set, and an honesty bar for sherry and tea. It is available to guests around the clock.
At 11 am each Saturday, the resident historian guides a one-hour building walk, beginning at the lobby sunburst and ending with the original rooftop elevator machinery.
For sunset drinks on warm nights, the rooftop opens with views across rooftops toward the river. When the temperature drops, blankets are provided.
Children may join the Sunday tea dance, use the pool between 9 am and noon, and take part in the library treasure hunt, finishing with a pastry kitchen treat.
