Responsible gaming
At Guest Nivo, the Gold Room is meant to be one pleasant part of an evening. Here is how we help keep it that way.
Our approach
The Gold Room is an amenity of the hotel, in the same way as the ballroom or the spa. We want guests to enjoy it as entertainment, for an hour after supper or a relaxed afternoon, and never as a source of worry. Every member of our gaming team is trained to recognize when a guest may need a break and to offer help quietly and respectfully.
Adults only
The gaming floor is open only to adults of legal gaming age. Valid photo ID is checked at the bronze doors on every visit, without exception, and anyone who cannot show it will be politely turned away. Children and teenagers are welcome everywhere else in the hotel.
Simple habits that help
- Decide on a time limit and a budget you are comfortable with before you start, and stop when you reach either one.
- Treat any game as paid entertainment, like a concert ticket, never as a way to earn.
- Take regular breaks. The lounge, the bar and the ballroom are all a short walk away.
- Avoid playing when you are tired, upset or have been drinking heavily.
- Never chase losses by playing longer than you planned.
Limits and self-exclusion
Any guest may ask a host to help set a personal time limit, and any guest may ask to be excluded from the Gold Room for a period of their choosing, from one day to several years. A request can be made in person at the door or by email, and our team will handle it in confidence.
Signs to watch for
It may be time to talk to someone if gaming has started to feel like a need rather than a choice, if you spend more than you planned, hide your play from people close to you, or feel anxious when you are not playing. These feelings are common and help is available.
Where to find help
Our hosts can give you details of confidential support services, and your doctor is also a good first step. If you are worried about a friend or family member staying with us, you are welcome to speak with our duty manager at any hour. You can also write to [email protected] and a senior member of the team will reply personally.
